Cori Broadus was a guest on T.D. Jakes this week sharing her story of growing up as a dark skinned girl in a world where few people look like her. Cori revealed that she was bullied and teased for being too dark.
When Cori started her social media accounts, she said the bullying escalated, affecting her self esteem. But despite the negativity, Cori kept posting photos of herself and sharing more frequently on her outlets. She says eventually she started seeing positive comments on her posts. She shared this encouraging and revealing message with her Instagram followers.
I can finally say I'm comfortable in my own skin, grew up despising the skin tone I was in because it's been bashed on for so long & society has been putting in our heads that dark is ugly. For all you beautiful chocolate girls/ women out there you're BEAUTIFUL & don't let anyone tell you different. – Cori B ❤️
It is heartbreaking to think that someone this beautiful was convinced she wasn’t. It’s good to know she has embraced her stunning beauty and is now inspiring others to do the same. Keep spreading your #BlackGirlMagic Cori!
